Let's suppose you are a programmer who has just created a great software. To become more appealing and attract more users, it must not only have a nice looking interface and good functionality, but should also include a good looking icon. A lot of people create shortcuts on the desktop and if your software has a great looking one, it will definitely stand out. But even if you are just a user, you may wish to change the dull and boring icons shown on the desktop with brand new ones, for example designed by yourself. You can use IcoFX for completing this task. It's a software that has all the user needs for creating and modifying icons.

The program is simple to install and can run on most versions of Windows, starting with XP and ending with Windows 7. There is even a version for Macintosh users. It also takes up little system resources. It doesn't install any adware or toolbars into the system.

The interface of IcoFX seems a bit crowded at first, but a first-time user will quickly get used to it, as all the commands are self-explanatory. The number of graphical formats that can be imported into IcoFX, for converting into icons, is quite impressive. Basically, any image format can be used for creating icons.

But the program's functionality doesn't stop here. Besides creating icons, IcoFX also allows creating animating cursors. It also allows saving in various graphical formats, thus acting as a complex image editor. The editing possibilities are endless and are limited only by your imagination.

IcoFX allows applying various effects to images and also correcting the brightness and the contrast of them. The user can also create an icon or a cursor file from scratch, using the numerous drawing tools. These tools surpass the ones included in Paint, the default Windows image editing program.

Despite the fact that the interface looks a little crowded, beginners can familiarize quickly with the software by reading the complete manual, which covers all the program's functions in detail.

Pros

It supports a wide range of graphical formats. It also allows applying various effects and corrections to imported pictures. Besides that, it includes tools for drawing icons from scratch. The manual covers all the aspects of the program's functionality and can make even the most inexperienced user get familiar quickly with IcoFX.

Cons

The interface seems a little bit crowded. IcoFX is the best and most complete software for creating any type of icon or cursor.
